Q - Is the Diploma in Oil and Gas accepted in the oil and gas sector in Trinidad and Tobago?

A - Yes, it is! Companies can contact our offices for verification and further information on our certification, if and when required.



Q- I’m interested in the Diploma in Oil and Gas. How do I know which field to pick: Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical or Process?

A- Candidates interested in the Diploma in Oil and Gas can explore the following options when it comes to selecting a pathway:

Additionally, KSPTL offers free academic consultations to those who have submitted an online application to the school.

Q- Are KSPTL’s programmes GATE approved?

A - Our programmes are NOT currently GATE Funded however, our students take advantage of the following should they require financial assistance:

  1. Requesting a payment plan with KSPTL
  2. Accessing financing through TECU Credit Union, Republic Bank Limited, and Royal Bank Caribbean.

Q - I previously did a university degree, can I get exemptions for your programmes?

A - KSPTL does not provide any exemptions to any current programmes, our learning outcomes/objectives and curriculum is uniquely designed and geared at competence in the oil and gas sector.



Q - I don’t have any subjects, but I have work experience; why do I have to do a Level 5 programme before pursuing a Level 6 programme?

A - Our Level 6 programmes are affiliated with the Energy Institute, as such we are mandated to ensure that the minimum entry requirement for the Level 6 programme is at a Diploma level. Hence, we advise a candidate without any qualifications to start at the Level 5 programme which will guarantee entry to the Level 6 programmes.



Q - I currently work offshore and my schedule is crazy; can I do this programme while working offshore?

A - KSPTL delivers training through an online setting alongside most educational institutions currently. This provides an ideal setting where you do not have to be physically at our institution. We encourage students wishing to pursue our programmes to share information with us of their schedules so an informed decision can be made dependent on the individual’s schedule.



Q - Why do some companies in Trinidad and Tobago not recognize certifications from KSPTL?

A - KSPTL does not have first hand knowledge of this occurrence however, if you have had an instance of this, we recommend informing us so we could make contact with the company to provide the necessary information to aid in their understanding of our programmes.



Q - How can I advance my studies after completing the Diploma in Oil and Gas?

A - KSPTL offers multiple tiers of qualifications. The Diploma in Oil and Gas (Level 5) programme, once completed, will allow you to transition to one of the following Level 6 programmes:

  1. Land Based Production Operator Training Programme
  2. Offshore Production Operator Training Programme


Q - What is the experience for women working in this sector?

A - All companies practice and abide by policies that govern equal and fair treatment to ALL individuals. Companies ensure women are treated with the utmost respect in the oil and gas sector.



Q - What is the average salary of someone who has completed the Diploma in Oil and Gas?

A - Salary and compensation packages differ depending on the company, and is usually sensitive and confidential information. As such, we cannot provide specific information on this.



Q - Do you all place students in jobs after completing your programmes?

A - KSPTL does NOT provide job placement but we do provide you with the necessary training and competence development geared at acquiring a job within the oil and gas sector related to the programme you have pursued.



Q - What is it like working offshore?

A - The experience of working offshore is different and varied for each individual as it depends on the position, company and facility in which you work. KSPTL offers you the Offshore Production Operator Training Programme, which provides competence training in the systems and processes in the offshore environment.



Q - What is the average salary of someone who works offshore?

A - Within the oil and gas industry there are many levels and positions of employment. Additionally, there are many companies who employ workers. Salary and compensation packages differ according to the level of employment, the position one is applying for, and the company one is applying to.
